Submission Guidelines Eligiblility: The Identity Archives Project is amassing an international database of active or previously active logos, logotypes, icons, brand identities, brandmarks, corporate identities (pick your term of choice)... any design that officially represents the entity for which it was created. There are no eligibility restrictions for company size, non-profit vs. for-profit, local/regional/national/international, nationality, language or industry. We only ask that the logo is/was a client-approved design, and that it is/was in use publicly. Please do not submit logo comps that were not selected! If the logo never saw the light of day, please don't submit it here as an active or previously active design. Authorship/ownership: Although we ask that you only submit logos that you (or your design agency) were involved in creating, we can't verify the accuracy of each submission that comes in to our database. Please only submit logos for which you are in a position to provide accurate and relevant keyword and authorship information. An incomplete or inaccurate submission can be worse than no submission at all. If you do not know who created the logo design, please do your best to track down the correct information. Also, if someone else has submitted one of your logo designs, and you find any of the information to be inaccurate, please Contact the Identity Archives Project with your corrections – we'll do our best to correct any errors as quickly as possible. Keyword Guidelines: When submitting logo designs to the Identity Archives Project, it is important to include accurate and relevant keywords – this is a keyword-driven database, and without well-considered keywords, the quality of search results will be limited. Keywords should be entered individually, separated by a single space. Keywords are NOT case sensative. Please follow the guidelines listed below when submitting your keywords: • Be sure to include descriptive keywords: What is the basic color or color scheme? What typeface was used? Serif? Sans? Hand-drawn? Manipulated? Is the mark geometric or organic or something else entirely? Does the icon represent something literal? Is it a 'logotype' without an icon? Is there an acronym used in the design? What are the letters? Are the edges hard? Soft? Faded? Are there gradients? Solid colors? Textures? What type of organization is it for? What sorts of products and/or services are provided? Please collect the literal and descriptive keywords that best describe your submission. • Be sure to include subjective keywords: Is the logo bold, edgy, conservative, masculine, feminine? Is it energetic or subdued? Is it traditional or progressive? What feelings or emotions are conveyed by the logo? You have creative license here, and your personal taste/sensibilities will obviously come into play, but do your best to be general/universal in your subjective descriptions. • Be sure to include conceptual keywords: If you or your firm designed the logo, the conceptual thinking that went into the design will provide valuable information for the database. Does the logo convey excitement, warmth, security, friendliness, confidence? Does it represent problem-solving, innovation, history, sound, power, atmosphere? Whether it's immediately recognizable in the design, or if the concept is more subdued, it'd be great to include the conceptual thinking that went into the design. • Be sure to include the name, city, and industry! • If the company or organization is known by an acronym, or if the logo/icon design is focused on the initial letters of its name, be sure to enter the acronym as a single keyword (ex: for 'Milton Hospital', where the icon is designed around an 'm' and an 'h' include a keyword submission for 'mh'). • Don't hold back! Try to keep your keywords to around 30-40 entries, but the more info you can associate with the logo design, the better! • Keep it clean! And no sneaky stuff! All submissions will be reviewed for inappropriate content before they are activated on the live database.
